Almost 1,000 trees have been planted in Bath & North East Somerset this winter, thanks to housing association Curo.

Working in collaboration with Curo colleagues, stakeholders, volunteers and tree contractors, the Curo Estates team has overseen the planting of 125 standalone trees, more than 70m of mixed hedgerow, and the creation of two mini forests.

The work is part of Curo’s commitment to sustainability and to providing green spaces for local communities. Curo now has more than 8,500 trees across its land.

Partnering with More Trees for B&NES, Curo created a mini forest to provide shelter and food for wildlife at Oval Park and planted a 50m hedgerow and central mini forest at Stirtingale Park.

They also planted 11 trees at Whiteway Green Park, with each tree dedicated to winners of B&NES Council’s Community Awards 2023/24.

Gordon Stuart, Curo’s senior arboriculturalist and contracts manager, said: “A huge thank you to all the volunteers, residents, and Curo colleagues who came along to help with this winter’s planting projects. Special thanks also to Bath Building Society and Mallory Jewellers for the assistance that they gave us.  “Working as part of the community is important to Curo, and the tree plantings are a great example of successful community collaborations.”
