The largest resurfacing scheme of the year is set to begin as overnight works are carried out on the A4.

Bath and North East Somerset Council is advising people to plan their journeys between today (May 6) and May 17 as resurfacing works are carried out on the A4 Bath Road and A4 Bristol Road, between Saltford and the A4 Globe Roundabout.

All works will be carried out overnight between 8pm and 7am to minimise disruption on one of the region’s busiest roads. Works are expected to take 11 nights to complete, depending on weather.

The council will resurface 19,000m2 of highway during the works, which brings an area equivalent to 73 tennis courts back to a high standard. Lining works will also be completed.

This is the largest scheme on the council’s resurfacing programme this year, which can be seen on the council’s website: https://www.bathnes.gov.uk/find-planned-street-works

Other planned works proposed to take place in May include St Saviours Road in Lambridge and Limeburn Hill and Wells Road in the Chew Valley.

Councillor Manda Rigby, cabinet member for transport for Bath and North East Somerset Council, said: “We know this is a busy highway in our network so have planned for all of our essential improvement works to take place overnight, which will greatly reduce any disruption they’ll cause. Please do plan your journey in advance if travelling in the area as these works are carried out.”

Advanced notices and diversion routes for traffic will be in place leading up to and during the works. Diversion routes for these and all other roadworks can be seen on one.network.
