Jacob and Isaac Hinge, who live in Midsomer Norton, have joined the efforts of the Wombles this summer to raise all-important funds for their Scout Hall.
Jacob Hinge, aged 9, is a member of 1st Midsomer Norton Cubs and Isaac Hinge, aged 7, goes to 1st Midsomer Norton Beavers; two local organisations encouraging young people to take part in activities and learn new skills.
Talking to The Journal, the young boys mum, who joins them in their endeavours to tidy Midsomer Norton’s streets, said: “All Scouts, Cubs and Beavers were challenged to do a sponsorship over the summer to raise funds.
“The boys chose litter picking as we thought it would be something different than the usual sponsored events, such as bike rides and walks and is also doing good by serving the community and helping the environment, as well as raising money for the Scouts. It is also a good way of keeping them busy during the holidays!
“We have previously done litter picking as I have become involved in “Wombles of MSN and surrounding area” and the boys have sometimes been out with me helping to pick.
“They have challenged themselves to pick six bags of litter, one bag for each week of the summer holiday.
“We were away for the first two weeks of the holiday so did three bags on their first pick on the 7th August around the hillside area and Clapton road park.”
Not stopping there, the boys have also taken on Orchard Hall and the Pinewood area to rid it of rubbish.
With no set fundraising goal, Jacob and Isaac have already raised an incredible £125 to go towards the repairs, and hope to raise much more.
The dedicated team will continue to womble throughout the summer holidays in the hope of raising as much money as possible, whilst helping the environment.
