Avon Needs Trees recently achieved their biggest tree planting season yet across their sites in the Bristol-Avon River catchment.
Since November last year, more than15,000 trees have been planted by 1,000 dedicated local volunteers.
Avon Needs Trees CEO Dave Wood said: “We are delighted to have planted a record-breaking number of trees this winter and couldn’t be more grateful to our wonderful volunteers who made this possible.”
The majority were planted at Great Avon Wood, a 113-acre woodland project near Pensford, funded by WECA alongside other partners and delivered in partnership with Forest of Avon Trust. Planting is expected to be completed at Great Avon Wood by March 2025, with the charities aiming to plant 14,000 trees next season.
While tree planting season is over, there are plenty more opportunities to get involved with Avon Needs Trees as the charity moves its focus onto tree care and conservation. Visit www.avonneedstrees.org.uk to get involved.
