A TEENAGER has been arrested following an attempted burglary in Timsbury.

The boy, who is aged just 16, was arrested following the incident at around 1am in Bloomfield Road on Tuesday, February 18.

Avon and Somerset Police has now issued burglary prevention advice to homeowners in the wake of the incident.

Police said in a statement: “A teenager has been arrested following an attempted burglary in Timsbury in the early hours of yesterday Tuesday morning (February 18).

“At around 1am we were called to Bloomfield Park Road following a report of a disturbance and a group acting suspiciously.

Officers attended to find people making off in a vehicle. Following a short pursuit, the vehicle stopped and the occupants ran from police.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of burglary. They have since been released on police bail.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward who haven’t already been spoken to.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone with information, those who may have seen something suspicious at the time of the incident, or those who may have dashcam or doorbell footage,

Police have issued the following burglary prevention advice:

  • Secure all doors and windows – if they are not secure, neither is your property.
  • Make sure the doors and frames are strong and are in good condition.
  • Replace glass panels with laminated glass.
  • Intruder alarms are an effective deterrent against burglars. Surveys have consistently shown that properties are less likely to be burgled if an alarm is fitted.
  • Fit a security bulk headlight to the outside of your property at the front and back.
  • Remember to keep vehicle and house keys out of view in your property
