Adrian Youings will be leaving his role as Archdeacon of Bath in June this year to become the Head of Supporter Relations for Christian charity, Care for the Family. The charity aims to promote family life and help those who face family difficulties.

Bishop Michael says, “Adrian has served the Diocese of Bath and Wells brilliantly and with distinction over many years. He has brought to us faith, joy, hope, wisdom and energy in all the roles he has undertaken. As the new bishop of our diocese I’ve been so grateful for all the support and encouragement that Adrian has given as Archdeacon of Bath. We shall miss his contribution enormously but are delighted at the prospect of all that Adrian will bring to the vital work of Care for the Family. Adrian goes from us with our thanks, our appreciation and our love.”

Adrian came to the diocese to become Rector of Trull with Angersleigh near Taunton in 2003. During his 14 years as Rector he was Area Dean of Taunton, a member of Diocesan Synod and Bishop’s Council and on the panel that appointed Peter Hancock as the 79th Bishop of Bath and Wells. He became the Archdeacon of Bath in November 2017 and is one of the diocese’s General Synod representatives.

Adrian says, “I have loved being part of Bath and Wells over these 21 years, as we have sought to live and tell the glorious story of Jesus Christ. Above all it has been the people I have worked with that has made this such a wonderful place to live and minister. With my wife Fran continuing her role as Associate Minister at Grace Church in Bath, I will be remaining in the Bath area as I take on this new role in which I will be seeking to support families in what is a challenging time for so many.”

Adrian’s last day as Archdeacon of Bath will be Monday, 17 June.
