Ellie Nowell, a young widow and mother to two children, Morris, aged five and Marcie, three, is organising a band night on Saturday, 26th September in memory of her husband, Steve, who died last March at the age of 37. He had been suffering from a rare form of cancer, called Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma. The evening will be in aid of the Forever Friends Appeal, which is currently raising funds for a pioneering new Cancer Centre at the Royal United Hospital, Bath.

Ellie says: “Steve was a talented guitarist and absolutely adored music. The headlining band, D-Cups, is the band that he used to play in and the other band joining us on the night, Skiffilis, are friends of theirs. He was diagnosed in 2007, but had been ill for at least five years prior with no diagnosis. He is missed hugely by many people, but none more so than me and our two children.

“We raised over £2,000 last year and hope to do the same this year. Raising this amount of money would mean that we would have donated £10,000 since Steve’s death and therefore we would be able to get a piece of equipment in the hospital dedicated to him.

“This year, we have added a raffle and food to the proceedings. Raffle prizes so far

include a Dyson V6 vacuum, vouchers for the Hunters’ Rest, James Christopher Hairdressing and tickets to Longleat, Wookey Hole and @Bristol. I really want to make this night a roaring success and to raise as much as possible for the Forever Friends Appeal.”

Ellie’s band night will take place at Timsbury’s Conygre Hall, with doors opening at

7 p.m. and the bands taking to the stage from 7.30 p.m. Tickets are available from Midsomer Norton Sports Centre, McColls in Timsbury and Timsbury Cricket Club or from: 07833 459225. Raffle tickets can be bought via this number or on the night.
