At the Midsomer Norton Remembrance Parade, members of the Connaught Freemasons laid a wreath in a solemn tribute, joining a large turnout of locals.

The Connaught Freemasons also paid special homage to Infantryman Lance Corporal Percy Blinman, a member of their Lodge who served in the 1/6 Gloucestershire Regiment. Percy lost his life in World War I during the Battle of the Somme on July 23, 1916, at just 27 years old.

Today, his memory lives on both in his burial at Pozieres British Cemetery in France and through a dedicated memorial in Midsomer Norton’s Masonic Hall.

The ceremonies also highlight the importance of community remembrance, making sure that the sacrifices of our servicemen and women are never forgotten.
