Join Dorothy House Hospice and schools from across the Bath area at Bath Abbey on Friday, 9th June for an exciting new event, an evening of musical theatre hits! Featuring over 100 students and a live band, this event promises to be a night to enjoy.
The evening is being hosted by Revd Philip Hawthorn, former BBC TV presenter, who will be overseeing performances by students from over 10 schools across the Bath area who have chosen to take part. Bath Abbey provides and exceptional setting for this event, which will feature a raffle, silent auction and a range of toe-tapping musical numbers from musicals new and old. Revd Philip had this to say about the Hospice: “Dorothy House is there for people in their deepest, darkest times – they are angels of light.”
All funds raised from the exciting evening will be donated to local charity Dorothy House Hospice. The Hospice supports patients and their families across a region of 700sq miles including the city of Bath. Their standard of care reaches deep into our community. Through ten locally-focused Dorothy House care teams, they help people prepare for the end of their lives and equip more people to provide the care each of us deserves.
The evening is being generously supported by Fine & Country, estate agents in Bath, who have come on board as Headline Sponsors. Lucra Mortgages have joined the group of brilliant sponsors as well as RBC Brewin Dolphin, Investment Managers, who are sponsoring the band of professional musicians. Without their support this event would not be taking place, so a huge thank you to them.
Chairman of Bath’s Rising Starts and long-time supporter of Dorothy House, Carol Stainer, who has brought together The Royal High School and Bath Spa University as Music and Production Directors respectively has said this about the evening:
“This has been a dream of mine for several years, to hold a concert for Dorothy House in Bath’s stunning Abbey. I really hope all the performers enjoy this special occasion and have a fun and relaxed event. And, of course, I hope the audience enjoy it too!”
Mark Bradbury, Director of Music at Royal High School, has come on board as Musical Director for the concert and will be leading the children involved across a range of musical theatre hits!
Bath Spa University have come on board with supporting the production of the concert, bringing another age group of students into the event. Kerry Irvine, Producer at Bath Spa Productions had this to say about being involved in Bath’s Rising Stars: "Supporting the work of this important charity and celebrating the talent of creative young people is very important to Bath Spa University, we are excited and feel privileged to be part of this wonderful event.”
