BISHOP Sutton Primary School has been rated “Good” in all areas by Ofsted in its first inspection since joining the Lighthouse Schools Partnership.

The inspectors, in their report from the July 2024 inspection, commented on the school’s vision of “where every child can dream, believe, and achieve,” noting that this is evident through the ambitious curriculum.

They also highlighted that “pupils are engaged in their learning and pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are well-supported.”

The Ofsted report rated Bishop Sutton Primary School as “Good” in all areas. This includes the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision.

Dieter Cook, who served as headteacher during the inspection and retired at the end of August 2024, believes the Ofsted report accurately reflects the school’s achievements and progress.

He said: “The highly successful recent Ofsted inspection at Bishop Sutton is testament to the hard-working team there; I really cannot thank staff teams enough for their hard work, dedication and service to children and their families over the last few years.”

Bishop Sutton, along with its federated school in Stanton Drew, has a new headteacher from this academic year, Tim Eustace. He agrees with the inspectors’ view that “pupils are polite and well-mannered and there is a calm and purposeful environment in classrooms and around the school.”

He also said: “I am delighted to be leading both schools and will continue to build on the strong foundations already in place.”

This was Bishop Sutton Primary School’s first inspection since becoming an academy and joining Lighthouse Schools Partnership.

The Lighthouse Schools Partnership is a trust that provides education to children and young people from nursery to sixth form. As a not-for-profit charity organisation, it is committed to the belief that education changes lives for the better and forever.

Following the publication of Ofsted’s report, Dr Gary Lewis, Chief Executive of Lighthouse Schools Partnership (LSP), said: “Bishop Sutton’s positive inspection report recognises the passion and commitment of the teachers, leaders and support staff in creating an environment that is safe and welcoming for pupils.

He added: “Our Trust is committed to continuous improvement and under Tim Eustace’s new leadership and with his previous experience of working within other LSP schools, we will continue to see both Bishop Sutton and Stanton Drew schools develop and flourish.”
