Bath and North East Somerset Council will be collecting Christmas trees along with garden waste to ensure responsible disposal.

If you would like the council to collect your tree, you need to register your tree online at https://beta.bathnes.gov.uk/christmas-tree-collections by 9pm the day before your scheduled garden waste collection. The booking system can be accessed now, and collections will start from 16th January. More information will be given on the exact date of your collection upon booking.

In order for your tree to be collected, it needs to be free of decorations, cut into pieces no bigger than 1.2 metres, and should be left at the front of your property.

The Council say, “by disposing of your tree responsibly, you are helping to minimise waste and protecting resources, ultimately helping to tackle the Climate and Ecological Emergencies”.

Alternatively, if you are still feeling the spirit of Christmas and can afford to give money to charity, Dorothy House will collect and responsibly dispose of your tree in exchange for a donation. The suggested minimum fee is fifteen pounds, and in exchange the charity will take your tree and recycle it for you - all you need to do is leave it in a visible area outside your property free of decorations.

Registration for Dorothy House’s collection service closes at Midnight on Sunday 8th January 2023. Collections will take place between Friday, 13th January and Sunday, 15th January. Your tree must be ready to collect by 8am on the dates given. To check if the charity are collecting in your area or book and donate, visit: https://just-helping.org.uk/register-tree/.
