Young people receiving GCSE results today are being congratulated on their achievements and reminded of the support available for the next chapter in their lives.
This is the first year since 2019 that standard assessments have taken place after teacher-assessed grades replaced exams during the Covid pandemic.
Councillor Paul May, cabinet member for Children’s Services at Bath & North East Somerset Council, said: “Today is a special day in many young people’s lives and my congratulations go out to those who are celebrating their successes. No matter what the results are, we are proud of all the students in Bath and North East Somerset for their hard work during the exams.
“If the outcome isn’t what you had hoped, don’t forget there is plenty of advice and support available to help you with your next steps. Your school will be able to signpost you to the most appropriate help for you and there is a wealth of information available online about options for vocational qualifications, A-levels, apprenticeships and more.”
The National Careers Service runs a Get Help with Exam Results service. Support is available on the National Careers Service website and students can chat to a careers adviser over the phone or by webchat. The exam results helpline (0800 100 900) is open until Friday 1st September from 8am – 8pm Monday to Friday and 10am – 5pm Saturday.
