A major fire on a bus in south Bristol on Sunday afternoon is being investigated for a suspected arson attack. The number 2 was heading along Ladman Road, turning in Stockwood Road, before stopping at The Coots when the driver realised it was on fire (yesterday Sunday 26 November). The First bus blaze sent plumes of thick black smoke billowing into the air. Avon Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene, alongside police officers. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The incident happened between 3:30pm and 4pm. Responding to the incident, West of England Mayor Dan Norris urged anyone who saw anything suspicious around that time in the area to contact the police. He said: “This is deeply disturbing - especially if it was deliberate. People rely on buses every day. So an attack on a bus is an attack on the community. Thankfully, no one was injured, but it is absolutely vital to help the police get to the bottom of exactly what happened, so appropriate action can be taken. "Anyone with information should contact the police via 101 or use the live chat facility, quoting crime reference 5223289324. "Information can always be given anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 too.”
