We had a lot of participants for last week’s Mystery Photograph with many of you offering insight into the history of Coleford and your experiences with it.
Thank you for taking part and well done to: Paul Hancock, Robert Padfield, Frankie Ford, Les Box, Hannah Selway, Marlene Croker, Henry and Barb Winter, Dave Curtis, Jonathon Griffin, Martin Horler, Mike Turner, Eric Brain, and Eileen Smith, who all had the correct answer.
Eric Brain told The Journal: “The photograph is taken from the bottom of Church Street in Coleford. We used to go to the little pub just around the corner many years ago. Such a narrow steep street and the high building top left with lancet windows (a former chapel?) gave it away to me.”
Mike Turner, said “It is a picture of the road running into the lower part of Coleford, eventually leading towards The Kings Head pub.
“Not sure if the road is called Church Street, as it leads back up to Coleford Church.”
