There has been no active Community SpeedWatch in Chilcompton for some time, and, due to public demand, this has been addressed by Avon and Somerset Police.

SpeedWatch in the village could help improve your quality of life; approved sites are already in existence with two more identified for assessment. A Community SpeedWatch can be set up in any village, small town, or urban area, governed by a 20, 30 or 40 mph speed limit. Community SpeedWatch is a partnership between the Community, the Police and Local Authorities.

Chilcompton SpeedWatch is now actively looking for further volunteers from the village and surrounding area, so that regular speed checks can be resumed. Please help to keep the roads and people in this village safer by volunteering with SpeedWatch and putting something back into the community.

SpeedWatch gives local people, over eighteen and a driver, who are willing to become trained police volunteers, the ability to actively get involved in road safety in the locality.

Community SpeedWatch changes people’s attitude to speeding and is effective in ensuring speed limits are adhered to.
