Residents and businesses gathered in The Hollies garden last night to watch Midsomer Norton kick-off the festivities in style.
Midsomer Norton Mayor, Gordon Mackay, started off the count down as residents and stall holders joined in the Christmas Lights Switch-on, he said: "Christmas has started in Midsomer Norton thanks to the Midsomer Norton Community Trust whose volunteers put in an amazing effort, especially Deputy Mayor, Cllr Martyn Plant.
"It was great fun doing the countdown for guest of honour, Robert Drewett, High Sheriff of Somerset, to switch on our stunning Christmas Tree.
"Seeing so many businesses offer late-night shopping was incredible, I hope everyone takes time to appreciate the wonderful Arts Trail displays featured in shop-windows.
"Hazel Mullen, founder of Happy Hare (eco-friendly wellbeing products) did a fanatic job of arranging dozens of market stalls and Graeme Savage of Merriman Theatre managed the Hollies Stage.
"Support from Midsomer Norton Town Council and sponsors Lit Fibre allowed the Community Trust to put on a stunning event, hopefully we can do something even better next year."
