In lieu of a traditional Poppy Appeal collection, Circle Bath Hospital has pledged a donation to The Royal British Legion and their Midsomer Norton and Radstock Branch. Due to the impact of Covid-19, many volunteers are unable to help at collection points throughout the region. Instead, The Royal British Legion is urging people to support by making online donations in order to continue the much-needed support for our Armed Forces community.

The Independent Hospital, which provides treatment to many servicemen and women, has made many changes to their facilities and processes to ensure the safety of their patients and staff during the pandemic. Circle Bath have remained open throughout the pandemic, supporting both private and NHS patients. In addition, they continue to assist the Royal United Hospital (RUH) with elective surgical procedures.

Speaking to the Hospital Director, Lesley Lock, it was clear that the hospital recognises the importance of supporting charities amid the pandemic and they are proud to extend their support to the 2020 Poppy Appeal.

“We have implemented various Covid-19 mitigations throughout our hospital. Patients in our care can rest assured that our hospital has made the necessary precautions to minimise the risk of infection associated with the virus.

“Unfortunately our Covid-19 mitigations include making the decision not to sell poppies on the premises. Covid-19 has impacted us all and it is genuinely disappointing that we cannot support the Poppy Appeal in the traditional formats. We all recognise the importance of our armed forces and fully support the men and women who have served and continue to serve throughout the United Kingdom. It is our privilege to be making a donation to the local Royal British Legion branch.”

Geoff Wilson, President of The Royal British Legion’s Midsomer Norton and Radstock Branch recently visited the hospital to thank them for their generosity and met with Head of Nursing and AHP’s, Jenny Anstey and the hospital’s Clinical Chairman, Andrew Chambler (pictured).
