A concert held in support of the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity was able to successfully raise more than £750.
It was organised after a local man was concerned to hear that the charity was facing a shortfall in funding due to a dramatic increase in the number of call outs.
A group of local entertainers had quickly volunteered and came together in Ston Easton Village Hall for a concert to raise the much needed funds.
Colin Emmett, the organiser of the event, said “It was an evening of music, song, chat, and laughter.”
The event included music from folk quartet ‘Windfall’, plus storytelling from Janet North, as well as a mix of traditional songs from Heather Ash and Richard Ellam.
The glory days of music hall were revisited by Byrony McGinty, while Grahame Lacey and Martin Radford performed some Jack Thackery songs from the late 1960’s. There was also a guest appearance from local character Jimmy Riddle, played by Martin Horler.
The raffle was supported with gifts from local businesses in Farrington and Wells. In the end, the concert raised £763.58.
Daniel Hanley-Shearing, representing the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity, said “Your support means the world to us”.
