The Dairy Show at the Royal Bath and West Showground was a very happy place for our young showmen and women.

In the senior showmanship class for Holsteins, sisters Joanna and Justina Langley, from Farmborough, were placed first and second, going on to win the championship and reserve. Then the champion and reserve Holstein were judged against the champion and reserve from other breed sections. This is a tense moment for all those involved as all the judges scrutinised the handlers and their skill in showing their calves to the very best of their ability.

The judges selected Joanna, a huge testament to her skills, beating competitors from across the country.

This was the last time that Joanna could compete in these classes and the very first time she had won the Championship for Young Handlers, our very own champion of champions.

The next day, when all the dairy breeds of all ages were judged, the Langley family won a first and second in the Holstein calf class born July to September 2022, going on to win the Reserve Breed Championship.

A very successful show for one of our local dairy breeders and farmers.
