At Welton Primary School, the emphasis was on culture with the visit of a displaced Ukrainian young lady Anastasiya Tall.

The school was decorated in blue and yellow and children, as well as parents, enjoyed the sunshine with folk singing and dancing as well as a picnic in the school grounds. The special event took place on Thursday 20th July 2023.

Special visitors were members of the Norton Radstock Good Afternoon Choir who performed some songs after lunch which was enjoyed by everyone.

Head teacher John Snell said: “We wanted to take the focus away from the conflict in Ukraine to focus on the heritage and culture of the country. The children had prepared questions for Anastasiya and did drawings and paintings which she judged. Everyone had a very special time.”
