Pupils from a B&NES primary school have been celebrating their success after taking part in a nationwide Maths and English Challenge.
Thirty six children at High Littleton Primary School received awards following their participation in the Annual DoodleLearning Summer Challenge – a popular initiative designed to motivate pupils during the school holidays and prevent summer learning loss.
More than 18,000 children took part in the challenge, including pupils from 647 participating schools, by practising Maths and English for just a few minutes each day, using DoodleLearning’s award-winning apps. Part of the Discovery Education family of solutions, the DoodleMaths and DoodleEnglish apps use the latest edtech advances to reward learning and boost children’s confidence.
The pupils from High Littleton Primary school were rewarded with special certificates and badges that were presented by their teachers in school this week.
Ian Gunning, Deputy Headteacher at the school said: “We have been using DoodleMaths for around five years now and each year we have had more children participating in the challenges. The Summer Challenge is particularly effective as it keeps children ‘ticking over’ during the six week holiday period. The children have been so excited to receive their physical badge, however, they are equally as pleased by the virtual badges they earn on the platform. Since the children use DoodleMaths independently, it allows them to build their confidence as they get instant feedback and success.”
Howard Lewis, Discovery Education’s UK and International Managing Director said: “We’re delighted that so many children entered this year’s DoodleLearning Summer Challenge and congratulate High Littleton Primary School on their success! Our Doodle apps are a great way to extend learning beyond the classroom during the school holidays. We’re committed to creating content and resources that ignite students’ curiosity and make learning fun.”
Designed to be used for just 10 minutes a day, Discovery Education’s DoodleMaths and DoodleEnglish use the latest advances in learning and motivational psychology to raise attainment and boost confidence in Maths and English.
