The children of Peasedown St John Primary School have started the new school year in style, stepping smartly into PE lessons in a new PE kit launched by the new headteacher, Ruth Noall.

Ruth Noall started as headteacher at Peasedown St John School in April having previously worked as headteacher at the neighbouring schools of Shoscombe Church School, St Julian’s Church School in Wellow and Dundry Primary School in North Somerset. Prior to working at these schools Ruth taught in Bristol and in Taiwan and has over twenty years experience working in education.

Ruth said, “I am delighted to take up the headship at Peasedown St John School. It is a vibrant school where everyone is dedicated to ensuring all our children have the very best opportunities. The children and parents have been incredibly welcoming. Our vision to ‘achieve excellence for ourselves and others’ is evident wherever you walk around school and this inspired our new PE kit. We wanted our children to feel confident and motivated to be and do their very best in PE lessons and looking and feeling part of a team is going to really support this.”

In addition to the new PE kit, the children in the upper school will have their PE lessons taught through EVO sports who are also now running the After School Club. Other changes brought in by Ruth Noall include a new computer room and a room dedicated to the teaching of art and design. Over the course of the year the outside area will be developed into a bespoke forest school which will compliment the schools ‘platinum award’ OPAL play.

Ruth added, “The values we have here at PSJ School of curiosity, aspiration, resilience and empathy really inspire our children to understand how to be their best, how to bounce back from challenges and how to care for others and our community. I am passionate that all children should be given the absolute best opportunities to achieve their goals and should be taught to believe that they deserve this for themselves so that they can lead happy and successful lives.”

Joining Ruth Noall at PSJ is her dog, Bonnie who is a trained school dog. She has already proved to be a popular addition to the team, supporting children to arrive in the morning and being around at playtimes too.
