St Mary’s Primary School, Writhlington, pupils and staff have climbed the heights of Ben Nevis for a cause close to their hearts.
A spokesperson for the school told The Journal: “Following the return to school of an awesome pupil after a year of battling with a brain tumour, St Mary’s Primary School (Writhlington) children (and teachers) showed real perseverance to ‘BE THE BEST THEY CAN BE’ and raise as much money as they can for the cancer charities chosen by the School Council.
“A huge thank you to WOLT (Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team) who kindly donated the climbing wall and safety equipment, as well as providing qualified instructors to oversee the event.
“Pupils from Years 1 - 6 were set a challenge to collectively climb Ben Nevis (4,809m) - reflecting the challenges faced by our awesome pupil and their family.
“We are incredibly proud of the pupils of St Mary’s who managed to raise almost £950 from the event for their chosen charities by collecting sponsorships from family and friends.”
