At Norton Hill Primary, the children in reception and years one and two have been collecting donations of shower gel for the Royal United Hospital in Bath.
In their two rounds of collections so far, the children have been able to donate nearly one hundred bottles of shower products for the cause, collaborating with staff at St Mark’s secondary school in Bath to pass toiletries to hospital staff, where there have been shortages of washing products for patients.
The school’s efforts have been gratefully received by Mel Burcombe, Senior Sister of the William Budd ward, who says the children’s donations have “made a real difference”.
Headteacher of the school, Mrs Siobhan Waterhouse, said, “I am incredibly proud of the children and families of our school for once again pulling together and showing a real sense of community, compassion and charity”.
The school’s Parent Kind Association (PKA) plan to make these collections a regular occurrence throughout future academic years to continue helping the hospital, as well as other local causes.
