Welton Primary School in Midsomer Norton are celebrating a successful Ofsted inspection. The school welcomed inspectors to the school for two days in June 2019, and the report has now been published with inspectors grading the school as ‘Good’.

The inspectors commented that Welton is ‘a happy and welcoming school’, with a ‘whole school ethos of care, inclusivity and respect that permeates all the school does’. The inspectors also recognised the hard work and positive team effort that makes the school such a good place to be, noting that staff are ‘proud to work at the school’ and that ‘staff morale is high’.

Parents also spoke positively to the inspectors and made comments such as: ‘This school really is a gem!’ and ‘I honestly can’t praise this school enough’. Lead inspector, Paul Walker, commented that: ‘the overwhelming majority of parents who responded to Parent View and all those who spoke to inspectors would recommend the school to others’.

Headteacher, John Snell, said he was delighted with the report, and that it was testament to the hard work and support of all who are involved in the school, from pupils to staff, parents to volunteers. He remarked: “The team at Welton always go the extra mile to ensure that all children in the school get the very best school experience.”

Alun Williams, CEO of the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership Trust commented: “I am delighted to see Welton perform so well in the recent inspection. Anybody who has visited Welton Primary will know it is a fantastic school, where the care, support and guidance for children is first rate.

“The Headteacher, John Snell, other leaders, school staff and of course, Governors, should be rightly proud of their achievements.”
