A sell-out daytime disco is making a return to Somerset this year.
The Loft Nightclub in Weston-super-Mare is once again hosting the ‘In Bed By Nine’ disco in aid of Children’s Hospice South West.
The summer ‘daylight disco’, on July 20, runs from 2pm until 8pm, with a strict rule that only women and men over 30 years-old will be allowed through the doors.
The first ‘In Bed By Nine’ day time disco, held at The Loft in April and organised by Bleadon Women’s Institute, was a complete sell out, raising £5,500 for CHSW.
Owner of The Loft Nightclub, Darren, said: “Many people love the idea of going to a disco but most of the clubs don’t open until 10pm and most of the younger generation don’t go out until midnight.
“This event gives people a real chance to get out, have a dance and a drink, grab a taxi or bus home and be back at home in their pj’s by 9pm.
“The last event was a huge success and had a fabulous vibe.“
People were dancing from the moment they walked through the doors until they left.”
Daytime discos have seen an increase in popularity following the launch of Day Fever run by actor Vicky McClure and her husband Jonny Owen.
Line of Duty star Vicky and Jonny created the club night that opens in the day but shuts early, allowing revellers to be home for Saturday night TV.
The Loft – which has a capacity of up to 600 people - has given the venue for free with the entertainment being provided by Enhanced Entertainment DJ Olly Eade.
There will be a photo booth at the club for people to capture their memories of the night.
For those wanting to continue further into the night there will be music from rock band Stillyano from 9pm until midnight.
Pizzas will also be available in the club courtyard.
“The disco real chance for people to revisit their youth without missing out on their sleep and raising money for an incredible cause at the same time,” said Darren.
The Day Time Disco is already proving popular with revellers with more than 100 tickets already being snapped up.
Advance tickets start at £10 with tickets on the door costing £15.
There are a limited number of VIP tables, which start from £50 still available.
