With an audience of nearly one hundred, it was another memorable night on the big screen at Kilmersdon Village Hall for the second film in the Reel People Films’ new season.
The film, ‘Lunana - A Yak in the Classroom’ had great reviews on its release and it didn’t disappoint. The audience feedback was unanimous in its delight of this visually beautiful and touching film about a young teacher being reluctantly dispatched to the very remote village of Lunana in the Himalayas.
Barry Fowler, the film group’s chair said, “We love finding these lesser-known films from another culture which often show us a different way of life and set of values. We knew the film was well received because everyone stayed sitting whilst the credits rolled. Thank you to all those who came along and supported us”.
The next film in the Reel People Films season is Benediction (Cert 15, 2 hrs 17 mins) - a vivid and poignant exploration of the life of the World War One poet and war hero, Siegfried Sassoon, starring Jack Lowden and Peter Capaldi as the young and old Sassoon. This was the last film made by the much-loved British director and writer, Terence Davies who died in October and considered the film to be his best work.
Everyone is welcome at Reel People events – you can just go along and pay £6 on the door if you are not a member (or you can purchase a membership for the rest of the season). Payments can be made with cash or card. The film starts at 8pm but the doors and bar are open from 7.15pm so you can choose your seat and have a chat and a drink before the film.
There will be a few festive extras at the next film. For more information, please see the group’s website: www.reelpeople.co.uk or call 07947 325 950.
