FOLK singer John Kirkpatrick will perform songs from the two World Wars at Chew Magna Baptist Church this autumn with his featured show ‘Tunes from the Trenches.’

Residents are invited to see John sing a blend of popular hits from the era and tunes sung by service personnel on the front lines on Sunday, November 10,

Following the huge and ongoing success of his solo village hall shows, Carolling & Crumpets, which explores the songs and customs of Christmas and Midwinter, and The Victorian Farmer’s Year In Song, inspired by his appearances on the popular TV programme Victorian Farm, acclaimed folk singer Mr Kirkpatrick brings his trademark energy and flair to a stirring new programme.

He will also feature songs sung on the front lines by the service personnel themselves, tunes that were popular at the time, combined with new lyrics created by ordinary soldiers far from home. These songs reflect the experiences of those on the front, often conveying their stories with directness, wit, robust humour, and, at times, a touch of colourful language.

The performance is suitable for audiences aged 12 and older and has a running time of 90 minutes, which includes an interval.

The show will take place at Chew Magna Baptist Church, on Tunbridge Road, from 3pm on November 10.

Ticket prices for the performance start at £12.50 and can be purchased online by following this link: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/booking/select/RdiEJKhzXNnT
