Local ladies’ choir ‘Sing Your Heart Out’ had a very busy Christmas season including a charity concert to raise money for St John’s Church, Chilcompton where they rehearse weekly.
‘’We have sung at many concerts over the years to raise money for charities including Root Connections, BEAT Eating Disorders and Ukraine refugees, so we thought it was about time we raised some money for our own church!’’ says choir Director Viv Moon.
On 2nd December the choir performed their ‘Christmas Celebration’ which was a concert of two halves! The first was made up on some of the choir’s favourite songs including ‘Dream a little Dream’, ‘One Voice’ and ‘A Million Dreams’. After the interval the audience were treated to some Christmas classics as well as much loved traditional carols. The concert raised over £800 for the Church which has been very gratefully received and will go towards much needed repairs.
This year sees some exciting events in the pipeline for the choir including a project in the summer to make a recording of their favourite numbers. ‘’This is something that we have talked about doing for several years, and as our choir has now grown to over 35 members it seems like an excellent year to bring it to fruition.’’ Says choir chairman Sophie Andrews,
The choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7.30pm to 9pm at St John’s Church Hall, Chilcompton. Learning a variety of numbers from stage and screen, and pop music ranging from the 1940’s to the present day. They are happy to sing for special occasions, charity events and for local nursing homes and societies.
