POPULAR West country band the Wurzels will be kicking off Somerset’s Barrel and Bloom Festival this May.

Known best for their hit song The Combine Harvester, the Nailsea-based band will headline the Somerset Day Weekend festival at Rich’s Cider Farm in Highbridge on May 10-11.

This grassroots mini-festival is a celebration of the best of Somerset - its traditions, food and drink, music, and its people.

Set in the heart of cider country, Barrel and Bloom will showcase the county’s rich heritage with a weekend full of entertainment, local craftsmanship, and family-friendly fun.

The festival kicks off on Saturday, May 10, with the legendary Wurzels, who will set the tone for the weekend with their signature West Country sound. Expect a lively evening filled with music, dancing, and a fantastic atmosphere.

On Sunday, May 11, the festivities continue with a family-friendly day of celebration. Visitors can enjoy cider tours and tastings, showcasing the finest local brews, alongside fantastic local food offerings.

There will be children’s activities to keep younger attendees entertained and an exciting lineup of live music from local bands and rising stars.

Serin Rayner, a director at Passion for Somerset CIC, the organisation behind Barrel and Bloom, commented: “This will be a true Somerset gathering when we will come together to celebrate Somerset Day with plenty of fun for all the family.

“Barrel and Bloom Festival is all about bringing the community together to celebrate Somerset’s identity and spirit.”

Jan Scott, director at Rich’s Cider, said: “We are a family run business producing traditional farmhouse cider and farm pressed apple juice with locally harvested Somerset apples and are thrilled to be the headline partner of this exciting new event.

“Whether you’re a cider enthusiast, a music lover, or simply looking for a great way to celebrate Somerset Day, this festival promises something for everyone”.
