Valley Arts have launched a writing competition, focused on the theme of water, for their community play Rising Waters. All writing submissions will be incorporated into the final production and performed at Yeo Valley Organic Gardens on the July 13-14.

This initiative aims to celebrate the importance of water in our lives and the environment through the creative art of storytelling. They are looking to receive writing in 4 categories, no longer than two sides of A4:

1. Poems and Poetic writing inspired by the theme of water

2. Fictional pieces about a village drowned under a lake

3. Imagined folk tales composed for the Chew Valley

4. Dramatic monologues spoken by a character who remembers something about the Valley

You can pick one or more categories to write for and submit as many entries as you wish.

Winners will receive a 'Rising Waters' winner's certificate and a Valley Arts Theatre Pass 2024, which includes 4 free tickets to Valley Arts shows of your choice.

One winner will be selected from three categories: 0-11 years, 12-18 years, 18+ years. The last day for submissions is Friday, May 24, 2024.
