PEOPLE are being urged to save the date for the East Harptree Big Arts Weekend.
Last October, a group of artists from East Harptree joined together as a venue on the Chew Valley Arts Trail, and had so much fun that they planned to repeat the experience in 2024.
Now, having discovered the trail is taking a break this year, they have decided to host a Big Arts Weekend instead on October 19-20. There will be nine artists with full exhibits and a further nine putting in one piece to a special local East and West Harptree artists exhibit.
Throughout the weekend there will be workshops so people can leave their own creative mark.
Perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised there is such a vibrant pool of artists in this area; the Arts Hub, launched in East Harptree last year, has two artists in residence, Keri Green and Louis Neale, in the centre of the village and for years the village hosted its own arts festival.
‘This place attracts creative people and nurtures them too’ said Daisy Bowie-Sell, one of the brains behind the Arts Hub who lives in East Harptree. ‘It is an inspiring place to live and work.’
