The 13th Seedy Saturday, the locally loved event dedicated to gardening, growing and community activities, had plants and seeds galore on offer to keen gardeners attending Timsbury Conygre Hall on Saturday, 11th March.
Almost 400 people from around the area and beyond returned on their annual pilgrimage to the seed swap, taking advantage of the opportunity to talk with stallholders and expert growers. Everyone was keen to browse and buy their annual gardening supplies from a wide range of seeds, potatoes and plants, including heritage and organic varieties from Pennard Plants and Beans and Herbs; as well as purchase local produce, equipment, crafts and gifts.
Community displays and expert talks gave visitors a chance to find out about local initiatives, including Cameley and Clutton Toad Patrols, Cam Valley Wildlife, Grow Timsbury, Rockaway Park and bee keeping. Timsbury School’s PTA got crafty in the kids’ corner, and the kitchen café was the perfect place for chatting with other gardeners over a slice of home-made cake and a cup of tea.

Sam Ross, event organiser, said: “It’s always a joy to catch up with return visitors and welcome newcomers to our local event.
“Attendees were back up to pre-pandemic levels and so many people bought their seeds to swap, which gave the event a vibrant and buzzing atmosphere.
“With more stallholders than ever before, there were also plenty of seeds, plants, local produce and amazing craft items to be purchased, plus two fantastic talks and experts aplenty for those new to growing.
“I would like to thank all the volunteers and stallholders who continue to make it so successful, plus the generous support from our sponsors and ongoing interest from the local community.
“Everyone is encouraged to spend more time outdoors growing and tending their gardens again this year and we hope that Seedy Saturday will see more seed savers attend next year’s event to be held on Saturday, 9th March 2024 at Timsbury Conygre Hall.”
