A TOTAL of 34 “failing” timber balcony railings at two blocks of flats in Bath are set to be replaced.

Two planning applications have been submitted to Bath and North East Somerset Council to replace the wooden guarding on balconies at two blocks of flats in Lambridge built in around 1970.

Both applications warned: “The existing horizontal timber balcony guardings, whilst regularly maintained, have reached the end of their life and have started to fail resulting in an unacceptable risk to the occupiers.”

A total of 15 timber balcony railings will be replaced at Easton House, while 19 will be replaced at Hampton House.
