Derek Hunt, aged 96, peacefully departed this life at home on December 16th. A loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, he will be greatly missed. 

Derek found joy in repairing items and sharing the bounty from his cherished garden. Although he started his career as a butcher, it wasn't his chosen path. During World War Il, his compassion shone as he not only sought shelter but also helped dig air raid shelters for neighbours.

He carried the memory of his beloved wife, Aileen, who passed away 13 years ago, deep in his heart. Derek often spoke fondly of Aileen, sharing stories of her sneaking out of her home to meet him. Their shared passion for dance led them to achieve gold medals in both Latin and ballroom styles.

Derek's enduring love for Aileen and their shared moments on the dance floor will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
