It is with great sadness that Malcolm Norman’s wife Joan and family announce his peaceful death whilst an outpatient at Bath RUH on Friday, 27th October, aged 89 years,
As Welton Rovers’ goalkeeper, Malcolm won four Western League Premier League titles, three of those consecutively in the 1960’s (one unbeaten) and one in the 1970’s.
His association with the club was always spoken about with great pride and fond memories. Only last Sunday (22nd) at his family 89th birthday lunch, he spoke about the goal he scored kicking from his hands down the slope at Glastonbury Town, one bounce catching the slightly advanced opposition ‘keeper unawares!
Post-Bristol Rovers and during his reinstated amateur days with Welton, Malcolm was building a successful business career representing his company at home and abroad including in Barcelona, Malaysia, Singapore and Sweden; in retirement he volunteered for thirteen years as a driver for Avon Ambulance Service and for the famed Bath Mineral Hospital, the latter involving cross-boundary patient transportation including to the Isle of White, Cornwall, Wales etc and transportation of foreign patients to and from Bristol Airport.
A full life, well lived!
Mrs Joan Norman
