A folk concert is being held in aid of the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity at Ston Easton Village Hall on Saturday (October 12).

A dramatic increase in call outs for the air ambulance’s flying doctors has created a funding shortfall, so this event was brought together by local performers to keep the helicopters flying.

Starting at 7.30pm, it will involve a variety of local talent to provide an evening of song and laughter.

Colin Emmett, one of the event organisers, said: “It will be an evening of music, song, chat, laughter and that feeling that goes with entertainment by the people for the people.”

Local entertainer Mark Horler will perform a comedic sketch, while later on a pair of local men will perform hits from the singer-songwriter and poet Jack Thackray. This will be interspersed with a mix of traditional music and tunes from the days of music hall.

People can bring their own alcohol to consume, though drinks will be offered during intervals. Tickets cost £15 per person for anyone over the age of 14. A raffle will also be held, so attendees are encouraged to bring some cash if they want to participate.
