SAFE Link is now offering monthly face-to-face support for victims of sexual violence and domestic abuse at Frome Town Council’s Community Hub.

Safe Link offers independent support to women, men, and children who have experienced sexual abuse and violence across Avon and Somerset.

The sessions, which take place on the second Wednesday of each month from 10am to 1pm, are an opportunity for anyone who needs support to speak to a specialist adviser.

People can also attend the sessions on behalf of someone else, and do not need to have reported a crime to the police to access Safe Link’s services.

Michaela Chewins, an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) said: “‘At Safe Link, we want to ensure everyone can get the support they deserve, wherever is most convenient and comfortable for them.

“We know it is not always easy to reach out for support, so we aim to be as accessible as possible and ensure we bring our service to you. We are friendly, non-judgemental and here to listen. Pop in to see us for a chat and see how we may be able to help.”

Safe Link offers a variety of practical and emotional support services for victims and survivors of sexual violence and sexual abuse, and their families, across Avon and Somerset. They support people of all ages and genders who have experienced sexual violence, whether their experience is recent, ongoing, or many years ago.

They can also offer dedicated support for groups that often face additional barriers to support, including children and young people, BME individuals, LGBTQIA+ people and those with learning disabilities.

You do not need to report your experience to the police to access support. If you are unsure whether to report your experience, Safe Link can answer your questions about reporting, investigations and court, and provide support throughout the process if you do report.

Visit Frome Town Hall on any of the following dates—Wednesday, September 11; Wednesday, October 9; Wednesday, November 13; or Wednesday, December 11—and ask for Safe Link at reception. All sessions run from 10am to 1pm on a drop-in basis and do not require a booking.

In addition to the monthly drop-in sessions, you can contact Safe Link’s helpline on 0333 323 1543.

You can also contact them by live chat online, by email or post. All contact details can be found at www.safelinksupport.co.uk/contact
