New campaign Never Give Up Giving Up is offering free tools and support to help people in Bath and North East Somerset quit smoking in 2025.

The campaign led by Bath & North East Somerset Council, in partnership with HCRG Care Group Ltd, aims to encourage smokers to cut out cigarettes using free help including vape starter kits, specialist support from B&NES https://bathneshealthandcare.nhs.uk/stop-smoking-support/ or a free supportive app, allowing people to choose the best option for them.

To sign up for a free vape starter kit through the Swap to Stop offer, email [email protected]. Starter kits are available for smokers aged 18 and over who do not currently vape and who live, work or are registered with a GP in B&NES.

Swapping to nicotine vaping is substantially less harmful than smoking and is one of the most effective tools for quitting smoking.

Extensive research has demonstrated that individuals who seek support when attempting to quit smoking are three times more likely to successfully quit for good compared to those who try to stop on their own.

Becky Reynolds, director of public health and prevention for Bath & North East Somerset Council, said: “Making multiple attempts to quit smoking is very common. The key is not to give up - the more you try, the closer you are to quitting for good. Never Give Up Giving Up offers a range of support options to smokers looking to quit smoking in 2025 so they can choose which option works best for them.”

The council’s public health team and HCRG colleagues will also be visiting various locations in B&NES throughout the year to bring Never Give Up Giving Up to the community.
