Friendships that last a lifetime are truly rare, however two local women from the area have found themselves reunited at Pondsmead Nursing Home.

The reunited pair, aged 96 and 94, brought a tear to everyone’s eyes recently as they witnessed the flourishes of memory and recognition realised they knew one another.

It is thought that people with strong social ties normally live longer than isolated individuals and that friendships help people to stay healthy.

One of the ladies remembers her friend as a baby and they both know each other’s family. Their friendship is strong and hopefully they will continue to reap the benefits for years to come!
