FAMILIES and residents from Midsomer Norton, Radstock, and the local area gathered to enjoy the Frome Agricultural and Cheese Show.

Held at the West Woodlands Showground on Saturday, September 14, the event attracted just over 18,000 people and featured a range of activities, including cheese tastings from local producers, falconry demonstrations, music, motocross displays, food and drink stalls, and fairground rides.

The Frome Agricultural and Cheese Show has 12 competition sections including cattle, sheep, dairy goats, pygmy goats, horses, show jumping, eggs, fodder and grain, horticulture, homecraft and handicraft, vintage machinery and the global cheese awards. Alongside this are many other competitions in food and drink.

Local resident Rebecca Bradley, who won first prize in the baking competition, said: “The Frome Agricultural and Cheese Show is always so much fun, it is one of my highlights of the year. It’s just a shame that I never get to see everything I want as there is so much and not enough time.”

The event also boasts the Global Cheese Awards, where cheeses from all over the world to battle it out to become the world champion.

In the Cheese Pavilion, the Global Cheese Awards drew international attention as cheeses from around the world competed for the title of Global Champion. This year, Zuivelfabriek De Graafstroom from the Netherlands won the Global Champion title with their De Graafstroom – Oud. The Reserve Global Champion went to Saputo Dairy UK Davidstow for their Mature Cheddar. Saputo Dairy UK Davidstow also took home the UK Supreme title for their Vintage Cheddar and the Reserve UK Supreme title for their Mature Cheddar.

The Rockets performed high-flying stunts and precision formation riding on the village green, captivating the crowd. The Mangled-Wurzels followed on the music stage, playing West Country classics to an enthusiastic audience. The Little Show Goers Play Zone provided younger visitors with free activities, including sand art, pottery painting, crazy golf, and circus skills.

The Frome Agricultural and Cheese Show is set to return on Saturday, September 13, 2025, promising another day filled with a variety of events and competitions.

With popular features like the Global Cheese Awards, agricultural displays, and activities for all ages, the show continues to be a highlight for the local community and visitors. Organizers are preparing to bring back familiar favorites while introducing new elements to ensure next year’s event provides something for everyone to enjoy.
