The Cheese and Grain turned on the Christmas spirit for the whole of Frome on Thursday, 1st December with a spectacular animated projection of an advent calendar covering the front of the building in it’s entirety.
To commemorate the event, organisers invited Emily Eavis along as the guest of honour to ‘open the first door’ of their animated display.
Every day, a new projection will be revealed at 6pm, featuring a “light symphony projected onto the building synchronized in time with festive classics from over the years”.
The first night of the event saw visuals of the Foo Fighters - a globally-successful rock band who played at the iconic venue in 2o17 - alongside dancing Christmas elves, tumbling presents and festive bells.
Onlookers can expect a different Christmas theme every day, as the venue will be showcasing a 10-minute light show, looping every 20 minutes, as the countdown to Christmas begins.
Graeme Barry, contracts and operations manager at the Cheese & Grain, described the festive event: “We have a Frost Fair every evening, starting at 5pm through to 9pm, we’ve got market stalls with local traders selling locally-made gifts. We also have a live show on the front of the building, turning the front of the building into the largest advent calendar in the South West”.
The Frost Fair, Frome’s outdoor Christmas mini-market, will be running up until the 24th of December in the Market Yard car park, Frome, BA11 1BE.
