The local branch of a UK-wide charity care provider is planning a fundraising event at the Somer Centre, Midsomer Norton.
MHA works to support older people to live well in later life. The local branch, MHA Mendip and B&NES, which extends to Wells, Midsomer Norton, Street and Peasedown St John, provides social outings and weekly clubs, offering befriending opportunities through activities and outings to support people’s wellbeing within their own communities and help to prevent isolation and loneliness.
They also offer a telephone befriending service which matches more widely across Mendip, as well as retirement living and care homes in Bath and Midsomer Norton.
The charity aim to break down barriers to entry by subsidising costs through fundraising, with each community scheme raising their own funds for their area.
MHA Mendip will be holding their upcoming event at the Somer Centre from 10.30am to 1.30pm on June 23, which will feature a raffle, fancy dress competition, refreshments, a book swap and children’s welly boot exchange.
A local Rock Choir will also be providing entertainment from midday.
