I’ve been swept along by one of the latest trends on Instagram: growing your own ginger.
I nipped to Tesco and for all of 66p I was able to buy a tuber that fitted into the palm of my hand with a pleasing number of nodules from which I hope that shoots will sprout.
This tuber is now safely buried in a pot which is in my front porch, but could just as well be on a sunny windowsill until the frosts have passed.
It surprises me to think that I might stand a chance growing an ingredient as exotic as ginger in my garden, but I am hoping that a sunny position inside followed by a summer against a south-facing wall will see it thrive.
