Dr Esio Bassey steps forward to join the team at Eyetech Opticians as Director of the business and sets forth to continue with the same heart and values that the practice is known for.
Established in 1986, Eyetech Opticians have been at the heart of the Midsomer Norton community for the past thirty seven years, forming strong relationships with patients in and around the area.
Following the retirement of the previous owners, the practice is delighted to introduce their new director, Dr Esio Bassey, a highly regarded optometrist who lives locally with his wife and young family.
With fourteen years of expertise in optometry, Esio is on a mission to transform Eyetech Opticians, stating: “My main focus is to see Eyetech become the go-to destination for comprehensive and compassionate eye care services in the community.
“It’s really important to me that we continue to uphold the high standard of care that we are well known for while also remaining at the forefront of technological advancements. We are already updating our equipment and hope to continue doing so to improve our diagnostic and general services.”
Dr Bassey has served in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, multiples, and independent practices. His journey has equipped him with valuable insights, which he now channels into offering a wide variety of care.
Sharing his long-standing passion for the profession, Dr Bassey added: “I have always loved healthcare because it is one of those jobs that makes me feel like I am actually solving a problem in real time and being able to see the impact that doing my job well has on my patients is always so rewarding.”
Although he has achieved remarkable success in his field, Dr Bassey remains committed to furthering his qualifications. He is taking courses for certifications in medical retina and glaucoma monitoring. These certifications will enable Eyetech Opticians to offer services such as diabetic retinal screening and alleviate some of the burden on the NHS.
While Dr Bassey is excited to advance the practice in a variety of ways, the benefit of Eyetech Opticians’ loyal patients remains at the forefront of the team’s focus. Moreover, Dr Bassey’s deep-rooted connection to the local community makes Eyetech Opticians a special place for residents.
Dr Bassey shared, “Our team approaches every patient as though they are our only patient and so we should do everything reasonably possible to ensure they have a comfortable and positive experience while we ensure their eyes are cared for to the highest of standards.”
