For its Christmas Season starting in September the Mendip Male Voice Choir (MMVC) have teamed up with Prostate Cancer UK in a unique Charity Challenge.

Mendip Male Voice Choir is a choir that gives quality performances of audience-pleasing, diverse and entertaining music. It is a sixty-strong choir the members of which enjoy the fun, harmony and fraternity generated from singing and performing together in a range of venues.

Chairman Richard Luscombe explains “It is well known that singing in a choir increases wellbeing as it provides physical and mental stimulation plus great camaraderie, and we have a good time.

“As a choir we have supported numerous charities in our 104 year history so we have come up with this challenge as it raises money for a great cause, improves wellbeing and will hopefully increase our membership”.

To take part, any man can sign up, try to raise £50 for Prostate Cancer UK and join our rehearsals at St Mary’s School, Timsbury, each Monday from 19.30-21.30pm with the aim of singing at our Annual Christmas Concert.

There is no cost, all training, music, and materials are free, no experience is needed and no need to read music and no audition! It will also get you out of the house once a week away from the usual worldly pressures.

Mendip Male Voice Choir, which has around sixty members, is running a large multimedia campaign with banners, leaflets a Just Giving site (www.justgiving.com/team/mendipmen) and many small events to advertise the challenge. As well as performing in around six concerts in the run up to Christmas. So for any likely male choristers, there is no excuse not to join.
