Tina Bath, the National Hedge Laying Champion, kept Midsomer
Norton and Radstock Inner Wheelers enthralled at their January
meeting at The Old Down Inn when she gave an insight into her fascinating life and achievements. Born and bred in Ubley, where her parents were farm labourers, Tina can trace her family tree back to 1696.
As well numerous awards for hedge laying, Tina is also an expert in stone walling and restoring dew ponds and her skills have taken her on extensive travels.
She has been a warden for Somerset County Council for fifteen years, a long-time member of the Mendip Ploughing Committee and is currently Chairman of the Mendip Society. Diana Davies thanked her for her absorbing talk.
The club has enjoyed several recent get togethers, including a Christmas meal with Secret Santa gifts and a festive corsage competition won by Sue Hopkins, and a fish ‘n’ chip supper followed by a film show in the evening of Inner Wheel Day when food was also collected for the Somer Valley Foodbank.
