Neighbours and former constituents of Jacob Rees-Mogg have had a mixed reaction to his upcoming TV show with some describing it as 'cringe' with others ''fascinated' by it.

Locals says the famously posh former politician's reality show looks like 'the new Addams Family' - while other claim it's 'prefect car crash TV'.

Meet the Rees-Moggs is set to be streamed on Discovery+ from Monday, December 2.

Residents in the villages of Jacob Rees-Moggs's home and previous constituency showed curiosity in his new reality show - despite their divided opinions.

This reality series will show Jacob Rees-Mogg, his wife Lady Helena, their six children, below stairs staff and Nanny Veronica.

Their five-part series covers the couple as they juggle very busy lives over the last year in their two homes - a Grade II* listed 17th-century Somerset mansion and a townhouse in central London.

It will follow the family's life in the eccentric household through the Tories’ disastrous 2024 election and beyond as they cope with life after politics.

People in the villages of Chew Magna and West Harptree in North Somerset where he lives have given a mixed reaction to the reality show's trailer and clips.

In Chew Magna, Angela Marsh, 69, said: "I have to be honest I don't watch those reality shows but if I know it is somebody like him - a politician - then I am more likely to watch it so I might dip in.

"I do find him quite fascinating. I do have an affinity for his politics in some ways. There are some things he says which are a bit annoying.

"I actually don't mind the bloke - some things he says are good."

Sarah, 70, in Chew Magna, said: "He has been in this area - there's ups and downs with him. If it happened to be on I'd watch it maybe. I might cringe because he can get a bit cringe-worthy.

"I'm disinterested in knowing how he lives his life. It is just how he treats other people that matters."

Also in Chew Magna, Tracy Wills, 57, said: "We'd be interested because the mansion's got a bit of history. I don't know really much about him.

"I have seen the documentary advertised and I did think I might give it a watch to see if I can get a better insight into him really."

In Chew Magna, Geoff Preston, 84, said he hadn't heard about the reality show but said he "might watch it".

When asked what he thinks of him as a politician and former MP, Mr Preston said: "Horrible."

"He is an elitist. Privileged. He is entitled," he added.

Charles, 61, who lives in the same village as Rees-Mogg, said he would be "interested" to watch the documentary if he had Discovery+.

He said: "He is a person of interest. I don't resent him having that show. On a personal level he is charming. As a constituency MP he was good at responding. But we have different political opinions."

One local said: ''This show has already been done hasn't it? It was called The Addams Family.''
