The Blue Notes Jazz Band came to Clutton and performed in the Flower Show marquee to a large audience.

It was fortunate that the marquee was available, as the weather had been very wet, but it made for a good atmosphere with everyone near the band.

There was lots of head-nodding and feet tapping, and one or more regular visitors mouthing or quietly singing along was appreciated by the band, who interacted with the audience the whole time, sometimes with very corny jokes!

This year, the Blue Notes were accompanied by Hannah Wedlock, who sang with her usual verve and energy. The band line-up included Geoff Roberts on keyboard, Ron Brown on slide trombone, Bob Watkins on drums, Martin Williams, vocalist and trumpet, Grant Raynor on bass guitar, and Martin Genge on soprano and tenor saxophone.

They made a wonderful sound individually and together, and the audience was very appreciative. The afternoon was completed with a cream tea with homemade scones, and a raffle with some splendid prizes.
