Local majorettes the Enigma Twirl Team ended their season on a high after what has been a turbulent year.

The carnival season would end in November as Enigma competed at the Midsomer Norton and Shepton Mallet carnivals with the theme ‘Rave to the Grave’.

Their season ended with one win, three second places and four third place finishes, and the team were able to score top three finishes at every single carnival event they participated in as majorettes.

Later on in the month, Enigma would compete in the South West Baton Twirling Association (SWBTA) championships on Saturday, November 17.

There was a lot of healthy competition on display, and many teams put on some inspiring performances.

Despite this, Enigma were able to come out with an extraordinary set of results as they won nine championship titles, with two overall champion of champions titles.

The twirl team took three wins, the military teams won twice, while victories were also taken in pom, duets and solo, and team member Isabel D won the 11-14 year old spin elimination event.

Seven second places and two third places were also achieved.

Enigma are now focusing on fundraising and taking a well-earned break over the holidays, starting again on January 3, where an open recruitment session will be held at Stratton-on-the-Fosse Hall.

Anyone interested in joining the team, or would like to sponsor them, can follow their Facebook page and message troupe leader Tanya Denning for more details.

Boys and girls fours years old and onwards are welcome.
